Children's Ballet & Tap Instructor
Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Miss Marianela Higgins-Ockerman lived in Hawaii for about seven years. That is where her first dance training began.
She has been teaching little ones at Dancer’s Gallery since 1996 and has watched them grow up over the years. That is where her first dance training began. Local Hawaiian dance along with Mexican folklore were her first taste of the art of dance. When Miss Marianela ended up in South Florida her interest in dance grew and she trained in ballet, tap, jazz and modern but was interested in anything new that was locally offered. She joined the company of her local dance school and performed and competed with them in her teens. After High School she attended college for Business Management but her love of dance and teaching won out.
Miss Marianela has been teaching dance since 1994 and especially loves teaching younger ones. Her focus is tap, ballet and jazz but has also taught gymnastics, hip-hop and musical theatre. She has taught at many preschools and has been with Dancer’s Gallery since they opened in 1996.
Her joy in teaching young ones is knowing that along with good technique she is imparting to them the love of dance and of learning new things. She loves helping them grow into stronger, confident people always reaching high and striving to do their best in all they do!
